Q: How long have you been a... what's your job title again?
A: Cannabis Cultivator - 21 years.
Q: What was the first job you ever had?
A: Baker at Noah’s Bagel in Downtown HB. I’ve always worked. Even as a little kid I would wash neighbors' cars, mow their lawns, always trying to make some money.
Q: What is the most satisfying aspect of your work?
A: That my interest and passion can support my family.
Q: Explain what you do in five words or less.
A: I grow fire weed.
Q: What money (or career) advice do you wish you could give your 18-year-old self?
A: Invest.
Q: Name one thing about your job that most people would be surprised to hear.
A: There are no days off. The plants always need attention. It’s also very labor intensive, back breaking. There is always something to clean with cannabis.
Q: Where do you see your industry heading in the next 10 years?
A: I believe in 10 years the cannabis industry will split. There will be mass-produced, commercial, low-price cannabis and then there will be the high-end craft brands. It will also be advertised on the Superbowl.
Q: If you could give your clients only one piece of advice what would it be?
A: Enjoy what you do; it will make the learning process easier.
Q: What big projects do you have coming up in the next 12-months either personally or professionally?
A: We are purchasing and expanding our current building, which is pretty exciting for this little mom and pop pot shop.
Q: Why should someone choose a CPA instead of doing their own work?
A: We did this ourselves the first year and ended up paying taxes we aren’t even responsible for.
Q: Why should someone choose a Cannabis Cultivator instead of doing it themselves?
A: We always encourage our customers to grow their own. We sell clones in 60 retail locations throughout California. I believe when someone has a chance to grow their own they have a new appreciation for the plant.
Q: The mountains, the beach, or the desert?
A: Beach.
Q: What other interests/hobbies are you passionate about?
A: All my hobbies and my interest are all part of my business.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like people to know about you?
A: Just because I smell like weed doesn’t mean I’m stoned (maybe a little stoned).
